Can you survive on 30% lung capacity?

Take a deep breath in.

And now out.

This is what it feels like to be alive.

For most of us, we have 100% lung capacity and breathing is second nature.

However we take this for granted.

Try this quick exercise in the video below to see what it feels like to only have 30% lung capacity.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an umbrella term for respiratory diseases that decrease our ability to take in air and/or use it.

For some people, it is genetic and we can do exercises to help prevent further loss of lung function.

However there are a lot of avoidable lifestyle choices that we make that can cause COPD.

Common ones are:

  • Smoking

  • Vaping

  • Not using correct PPE on dusty, air polluted areas.

If you want to improve your life now, see you local physio for advice on how to improve your breathing.

Otherwise, there are services, such as Quitline, available to help you flick the habit.

If you want to have a chat or get a tailored exercise program to help improve lung capacity, click here to book or give us a buzz on 0402 832 329.

Let’s live the best life we can.

Good luck!
