Exercise Physiology
Liverpool.

Liverpool’s athletes, workers and families deserve more than generic exercise advice. Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists build clinical programs around what your body actually needs, from getting back on the field to managing a chronic condition for the long haul.

Exercise physiology for Liverpool residents is available at Aurum Physiotherapy, just minutes from Liverpool CBD on the Hume Highway in Casula. Liverpool is one of the most physically active communities in south-west Sydney, with many sports clubs, trade workers, warehouse and logistics staff, and a growing population managing chronic health conditions. All of them have one thing in common: they need exercise that is built around their life, not handed to them from a clipboard.

Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university-trained clinicians, not personal trainers. They combine movement science with medical knowledge to design programs that work within your injury, your condition, and your goals – whether that is returning to rugby league, getting back to full work capacity, or getting your blood sugar under control without relying on medication alone.

Why Exercise Physiology Matters for Liverpool's Community

Liverpool is a working suburb. A high proportion of residents are in physically demanding jobs – construction, warehousing, logistics, aged care, and trades. These industries produce musculoskeletal injuries, repetitive strain, and early-onset chronic conditions at above-average rates. At the same time, Liverpool has a strong sporting culture across football codes, netball, basketball, and running.

Exercise physiology sits right at the intersection of those two worlds. It rehabilitates work injuries and gets people back on the tools. It rebuilds athletes after surgery or serious injury. And it gives people with type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or chronic pain a structured, supervised way to use exercise as part of their treatment – not as an afterthought.
Working with an AEP means your program is built around your body, not a template, and can include:

Whatever brought you here, the approach is the same: assess properly, prescribe specifically, progress carefully, and get results.
REHABILITATION & SUPPORT

Getting Liverpool Athletes
Back to Sport.

Liverpool and the surrounding suburbs: Warwick Farm, Moorebank, Prestons, and Lurnea have some of the most competitive local sport competitions in south-west Sydney. Rugby league, football, netball, basketball, touch footy. When you get injured mid-season, the gap between “your physio has cleared you” and “you’re actually ready to play” is where most re-injuries happen.

An AEP bridges that gap. We look at what your sport actually demands – the acceleration, change of direction, contact, jumping or throwing and rebuild those specific qualities in a progressive, staged program. You don’t return to competition guessing. You return having tested the movements under load, knowing your body is ready. Want to understand the full process? Read our guide on exercise physiology for safe return to sport, then book when you’re ready.

Workers Comp & Injury Reconditioning

Liverpool’s trade and logistics workforce puts enormous physical demand on the body. When a work injury takes you off the tools, exercise physiology is often part of the return-to-work pathway.

Our Exercise Physiology Supports:

Getting back to work after an injury is not just about pain going away. It’s about your body being strong enough to do the job safely again. That’s what we rebuild.

Chronic Disease Exercise Management

Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, chronic pain, and mental health conditions all respond to the right supervised exercise. The key word is right – the wrong program can make things worse.

Conditions we manage with exercise:
Your GP can refer you under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan for Medicare-rebated sessions. Ask us if you think you qualify before your first appointment.

Post-Surgery & Post-Physio Strength

Physiotherapy gets you moving. Exercise physiology makes you strong enough to stay that way. The two services are designed to work together – and at Aurum, they do, under one roof.

We pick up after:

Surgery fixes the structure. Exercise physiology rebuilds the strength around it. Both matter for a full recovery.

What Happens When You Start Exercise Physiology in Liverpool

A Real Assessment - Not a Generic Screen

Your first session is an hour-long clinical assessment. We look at your injury or condition history, how it affects your work and sport, what movements you can and can’t do safely, and what your goals actually are.

The program we build comes from our assessment of your particular case, not from a standard template.

A Program That Fits Your Life

Liverpool people are busy. We build programs that work within your schedule, your access to equipment, and your current physical capacity. Your AEP coaches you through each session, adjusts load in real time, and ensures you leave knowing exactly what to do between appointments.

Progress Tracked, Not Assumed

Every few sessions we formally review where you’re at. Strength tested, movement assessed, goals checked. If you’re ahead of schedule, we push harder. If something’s not working, we change it. There’s no set-and-forget here.

Planning Your Comeback and Beyond

The end goal of exercise physiology isn’t to keep you coming forever. It’s to give you the knowledge, strength, and habits to manage your own health independently. We discharge you with a home program and a clear understanding of what to watch for going forward.

Exercise Physiology - Serving Liverpool, Warwick Farm, Prestons & Beyond

Aurum Physiotherapy is at Unit 4/605 Hume Highway, Casula – five minutes from Liverpool Westfields, easy to access from Warwick Farm, Moorebank, Prestons, Lurnea, Chipping Norton, and Cartwright. On-site parking. No city traffic.

Liverpool locals get something most physio clinics can’t offer: a physiotherapist and an exercise physiologist working from the same patient notes, in the same building, building your recovery together. When your physio and your AEP are aligned, your program makes sense from start to finish rather than being two separate things that don’t talk to each other.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I claim exercise physiology through Workers Compensation in NSW?

Yes. Exercise physiology is an approved service under the NSW Workers Compensation scheme for eligible workplace injuries. Your treating GP or physiotherapist can refer you, and sessions are billed directly to your insurer – icare, EML, Allianz, or your scheme agent. Contact us if you have a workers comp claim and we’ll confirm the process.

Is exercise physiology covered by private health insurance?

Most private health extras policies that include allied health cover exercise physiology. The rebate depends on your fund and level of cover. Bring your health fund card to your appointment and we process the rebate on the spot. Check with your fund beforehand if you want to confirm your entitlement.

How far is your clinic from Liverpool?

We are based in Casula on the Hume Highway, just minutes from Liverpool with on-site parking. It is an easy trip for anyone in Liverpool, Prestons, Lurnea and the surrounding suburbs.

Do I have to be injured or unwell to see an exercise physiologist?

No. AEPs work with healthy, active people just as often as those recovering from injury or managing a condition. If you want an expert, evidence-based plan to train smarter or prevent injury, an assessment is a great place to start.

How long will I need exercise physiology for?

Depends entirely on your goal. A return-to-sport program after an ACL reconstruction runs 6-9 months. A post-physio reconditioning block might be 8-12 sessions. Chronic disease management often benefits from longer-term support with sessions spaced out as you become more independent. Your AEP maps out a realistic plan at your first assessment
